   The times of the midday and evening meals in Spain tend to be later than in many other parts of Europe, and are usually even later in the south of Spain than in the north. During the working week, el desayuno (breakfast) is around 7.30 a.m., though many people postpone this until the mid-morning break, around 10.30 a.m. Lunch, called la comida or el almuerzo, is the main meal of the day and is usually eaten between 2–3 p.m. Merienda (equivalent to teatime) is around 6.30 p.m., and la cena (dinner), normally a light meal, is sometime between 9–10 p.m. During the summer months, these times can be even later.
